Neighbors in Action Community Leadership Workshop Webinar

With two months until GLobal Citizen's 20th Annual King Day of Service, Urban Affairs Coalition Program Partner Global Citizen will hold a project planning webinar on Tuesday, November 25th from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Last year’s Martin Luther King Day of Service attracted over 125,000 volunteers and completed over 1,700 projects across Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

This Saturday, November 22, 2014, The West Philadelphia Tool Library is having a Fall Tool Sale and Drive. Selections include circular saws, screwdrivers, hammers, gas-powered lawn care tools, wrenches, pliers, and many more. Tax-deductible donations are encouraged. UAC Thanksgiving Basket Program

Celebrating 31 years of giving

For 31 years, Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) has worked with community groups, churches and elected officials to provide some of Philadelphia’s most needy families with a Thanksgiving dinner. Last year UAC with partners Brown’s Shoprite distributed 1,000 baskets, feeding 6,000 individuals. Due to an increased demand, this year’s goal is to feed 1,100 families.

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) with the Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations (PACDC) will host Making Communities Safe: Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design and Community Collaboration on Thursday, December 4th from 9:30am-12:30pm at the PECO Energy Hall. Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) directly addresses the relationship between the physical environment and the incidence of crime.

State Senator Shirley Kitchen, in partnership with Quality Community Healthcare Inc., Temple Health and Greater Philadelphia Health Action, will hold the second of five Affordable Care Act and Medicaid open enrollment seminars on Thursday, December 4th at the Hunting Park Health Center from 4:30pm-7pm. This is the last official day to register for open enrollment. For Philadelphians who need help operanting the healthcare marketplace can get free, impartial assistance from certified navigators and councilors.

Planning for a Day of Purposeful Service

On Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 1pm to 2pm, the Urban Affairs Coalition Program Partner Global Citizen 365 is hosting a Martin Luther King (MLK) Day of Service Planning Webinar. With three months away until MLK Day, this project planning meeting will highlight forthcoming initiatives for 2015. Last year's MLK Day of Service attracted over 125,000 volunteers and completed over 1,700 projects across Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Organizations will learn how to organize projects and be given advice on how to properly develop their ideas.

The Philadelphia Region's Nonprofits & Innovations in Economic Development: Winter Launch Discussion

On Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 1pm to 4pm, The Philadelphia Social Innovations Journal (PSIJ) is teaming up with the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) to assemble a panel of experts to discuss national and local trends, current projects and financing strategies. Panel topics will include innovated nonprofit projects in education and healthcare and neighborhood and place based development projects. This event will be followed by a reception from 4pm to 6pm.
