Vernon Park will once again move to the sounds of Philly Jazz, like no other! Known for hits like Mt Airy Groove, Philly High and Keep Rising to the Top, “Pieces of a Dream” is celebrating it’s 40th year playing smooth jazz and making history.

The Free Library of Philadelphia teamed up with Producer's Guild and PJP to unveil their Mysterious Travelers Concert Series. You're invited to see their next installment, Karen Smith Monday, March 9th at Parkway Central Library.

On Monday, March 9th beginning at 7pm, the Free Library of Philadelphia, Producer's Guild and PJP teamed up to bring you the next installment of of their Mysterious Travelers Concert series, Karen Smith. Smith is a percussionist, playwright, director, producer, poet, and educator originally from Brooklyn but a Philadelphian since 1993. Here is your opportunity to meet Smith live in concert at the Parkway Central Library within the Montgomery Auditorium.

UAC would like to thank our Corporate Community Partner PECO for offering free tickets to the Barnes 1st Sunday in March. As you know, each first Sunday of the month, vistors enjoy free admission, familyy entertainment and informative seminars from 10am-6pm at the Barnes. A variety of music themed programming will take place throughout the Barnes on the 1st.

"Love Yourself" Cultural Enrichment Workshop hosted by Ridock King

This cultural enrichment workshop is for middle school age (10-14) Black and Latino males.

On Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 10AM-2PM, Joshua Keller and Mental Ambition, LLC will host a cultural enrichment workshop. This event will take place at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center located on 21st & Cecil B. Moore. This workshop will emphasize the important of self-love and self-esteem through cultural expression. Joshua will discuss African American history, hip-hop, community involvement and health and fitness.

Calling all poets, rappers, vocalists and lyricists! If you are between the ages of 10-18, we encourage you to showcase your talent at the 2015 PAAN Slam.

UAC Program Partner Philadelphia Anti-Drug/Anti-Violence Network (PAAN) will host their 2015 PAAN Slam on Wednesday, February 4th at the Pearl Movie Theater at 1600 N Broad. All poets, rappers, vocalists and lyricists ages 10-18 are welcome, however participants cannot use profanity, vulgar language or sexual explicit content. Those interested in performing must arrive at 3:30pm for auditions and material review.
