Homestead Exemption Program Extends Deadline

Extended deadline, apply early!

The Office of Property Assessment has extended the application deadline for their Homestead Exemption program through Monday, December 1st. This program will offer real estate tax relief by reducing the taxable portion of a property by $30,000 dollars offering an average yearly saving of $402 dollars. Only primary residences are eligible for the Homestead Exemption program. Applicants are encourage to apply as early as possible so that saving can be reflected in their 2015 real estate tax bill. AACCESS is a monthly breakfast that connects small businesses to large opportunities. Attendees will have the chance to learn from a presenter, this month Sugar House Casino, what they look for in a supplier and can immediately put their knowledge to work preparing their business for contract opportunities. Past presenters at this event include Wells Fargo, Verizon and the University of Pennsylvania.

Free Flu Shots!

State Senator Shirley M. Kitchen will be offering free flu shot clinics on Tuesday, October 21st and Thursday, October 30th at her office located at 1701 West Lehigh. Residents over 65, young poeple with chronic illnesses, children between the ages of 6 months and 2 years and pregnant women are at higher than normal risk of catching influenza this season. The Center for Disease Control recommends that everyone older than 6 months should receive a yearly flu shot before the end of COtover. Partnering with Walgreens and the U.S.

The Urban Affairs Coalition program partner One Day At a Time (ODAAT) will be hosting their Rev. Henry T. Wells and Chief Raymond Rooney's Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 27, 2014 beginning at 10am at the AFCOM Symposium. ODAAT will be serving 500 meals to the community and will also give away 1000 turkeys.

On Friday, October 24th, The Urban Affairs Coalition will host its annual Health & Wellness Fair from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Free flu shots are available for all attendees. If you are a full time employee enrolled in UAC Medical Insurance, you must bring your insurance card. There is a $25 fee for all part-time employees.
