UAC Program Partner the Black Writers Museum will be hosting the People’s Poetry Festival on Saturday, August 24, 2013. Come enjoy a day filled with poetry and culture featuring renowned poet Talaam Acey and jazz compositions from the Dahi Divine Quartet, The League of Extraordinary Genetlmen, and more. The Black Writers Museum will also honor literary icon Haki Madhubuti,PhD with the Living Legend of Poetry award.

On Saturday, October 19th, 2013, District Attorney R. Seth Williams will be hosting the First Annual Women & Children’s Safety & Violence Prevention Summit. This is a free public forum for women and children. This summit aims to provide an open forum to discuss safety, domestic violence issues, and ways to prevent violence. Workshop topics include domestic violence, internet safety, personal safety, and more.
