Congratulations to UAC Program Partner Teenshop Inc. for celebrating 30 years of phenomenal community service mentoring and developing adolescent girls into leaders.

On Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10am in Room 400 of City Hall, Teenshop Inc. will be honored with a resolution celebrating their 30 years of community service. Teenshop Inc. is a mentoring program designed to develop adolescent girls into leaders through an innovative series of life skills workshops, community service and college tours. Since 1985, Teenshop Inc. has expanded to Los Angeles, California and currently has three chapters throughout Philadelphia. For more information about the Teenshop. Inc.

X-Offenders for Community Empowerment Mayoral and City Council Forum Night

To all formerly incarcerated and convicted individuals, you are invited to attend the Mayoral and City Council Forum Candidate Night. Hear candidates speak on job opportunities for convicted individuals and other valuable information.

UAC Program Partner X-Offenders for Community Empowerement will hold a Mayoral and City Council Forum Night on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 6pm-8pm at the African American United Fund Building. X-Offenders invites all formerly incarcerated and convicted individuals to attend this event.

UAC President & CEO Sharmain Matlock-Turner has been nominated for Rad Connector of the Year at Rad-Girls.com first annual Rad Awards. Join her Saturday, April 18th and celebrate this tremendous honor.

On Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 7pm-10pm, the first annual Rad Awards will take place at The Dreaming Building to honor women who inspire others in the fields of technology, media, culture and business. We are excited to announce UAC President & CEO Sharmain Matlock-Turner has been nominated for a Rad Connector of the Year award. This celebration will be hosted by Rad-Girls.com, a digital platform for spirited females who are constantly achieving, innovating, and inspiring. It is an ongoing conversation between empowered women.

If you are an individual or organization interested in participating in the development of a collective Black agenda, join The Philadelphia Black Political Coalition at Dobbins for The Philadelphia Black Political Summit.

On Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 9am-5pm and Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 12:30pm-4pm, The Philadelphia Black Political Coalition will host The Philadelphia Black Political Summit at Dobbins CTE High School at 2150 Lehigh Avenue. The Summit is open to all individuals and organizations in the Black community interested in participating in the development of a collective Black agenda.

The Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations (PACDC) will partner with the Vote for Homes! Coalition to provide training for Community Development Corporations (CDC) to register constituencies to vote in preparation for the Primary Elections on May 19th. This event will take place Tuesday, April 7th from3pm-5pm in PACDC’s offices located at 1315 Walnut Street Suite 1600. Attendees will learn how to register voters, Get out the Vote (GOTV) strategies and voter rights.

In honor of GALAEI Day, GALAEI would like to honor one adult and one youth with the 6th Annual David Acosta Revolutionary Leader Award (DARLA). The DARLA Award is presented to individuals who show leadership and work to improve the community in ways that align with GALAEI’s mission.
