2015 African American Children's Book Fair

We invite you to come experience an enriching day of African American Children's literacy. Meet and greet with some of the literary world's most profound authors of our time. Make Saturday, February 7. 2015 a family day.

On Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 1pm-3pm, the 2015 African American Children's Book Fair will be hosted at the Community College of Philadelphia located at 17th & Spring Garden Street in the gymnasium. Award-winning authors and illustrators will be in attendance to read and autograph their books. There will be a wide selection of African American books for children, preschool to young adult available for purchase. As an added bonus, promotional giveaways, prizes, and games will highlight the afternoon.

Over the years, The Moxie Women Conference has fostered the growth of young girls while honoring the accomplishments and contributions of women to their chosen careers. On Monday, November 3rd, The School Reform Commission (SRC) will have its first Strategy, Policy, and Priorities meeting of the year. The focus of this meeting will be the READ! by 4th Campaign, and for future meetings, educating the SRC and the public on pressing education policy issues in the city. There will be three presentations: READ! by 4th Strategy, Creating Effective Partners, and Parent Engagement, with group discussions in between each panel.

On Saturday, October 25th from 8am-5pm, the Philadelphia Writing Project in partnership with the Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) have teamed up to provide area teachers a full day of professional development including breakout sessions, product demonstrations, and expert panels that will highlight and showcase the future of digital and literacy education both in and out of the classroom.

BEE Camp hosted at German Town Friends School. A day camp focused on teaching boys and girls grades 6-10 Basketball and study skills.

BEE Camp hosted at  German Town Friends School. A camp focused on teaching boys and girls grades 6-10 Basketball and study skills. The camp runs in three sessions, July 9-15, July 16-20 and July 23-27. The camp runs monday through friday from 8:30am-3:00pm. Each session cost $150 but one can purchase all three sessions for $400.
