The Taste of Freedom Luncheon, presented by the Mann Center for Performing Arts, will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Union League located on 140 South Broad Street. The Luncheon is a part of Mann’s Philadelphia Freedom Festival, a seven-month project celebrating the life of 19th century African American civil rights pioneer, Octavius V. Catto, and commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act. During the Taste of Freedom Luncheon, The Mann Center for Performing Arts will pay tribute and honor African American women who have made distinguished contributions to their professions and communities.

Joan Myers-Brown, Founder

 The Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO) and the Philadelphia School of Dance Arts

Hon. Augusta Clark Philadelphia City Council (awarded posthumously) 

Trudy Haynes Retired CBS Broadcast Pioneer

Jacquelyn Kelley CEO, Discovery Charter School

Wanda Paul Senior VP, Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau

Sonia Sanchez Poet, playwright, educator, activist

Beverly A. Harper Founder/President, Portfolio Associates, Inc.

Dr. Edith Mitchell

Professor of Medicine and Medical Oncology, Thomas Jefferson University, distinguished researcher for pancreatic cancer

Senator Roxanne Jones Award
