Position Summary: 

Galaei, a queer latinx health and social justice organization and program partner of the Urban Affairs Coalition is currently looking for an individual to fill the position of CLEAR/Trans Equity Project Recruiter (formally known as TIP). Clear: Choosing Life: Empowerment! Action! Results! is an evidence based, health promotion intervention for people ages 16 and older living with HIV/AIDS or at risk for HIV/AIDS. CLEAR is a client centered program delivered one on one using cognitive behavioral techniques to change behavior. The Trans Equity Project runs the only Transgender Peer Led version of CLEAR in the city of Philadelphia. The Recruiter is responsible for ensuring program deliverables are met, including recruitment, counseling, and referrals. The Recruiter works as part of a team to oversee coordination and implementation of social justice services for trans* communities.

Salary & Benefits: 
Part-time entry-level position, 3 month contracted position available 20 hrs. per week. $16 per hour. Must be available to work two evening per week from 11-2a.m
Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

● Must be available to work 17-18 hours per week. Daytime office hours at community based non-profit agency, Norris Square location in West Kensington/North Philadelphia. Must conduct street outreach two evenings per week from 11:00 pm – 2:00 am along with a co- worker ( Note: co-worker must accompany the recruiter at all times. Safety protocol training will be provided );

● Responsible for approaching individuals to talk with about the prevention intervention being provided by agency staff. ( Note: training will be provided on the intervention so recruiter can comfortably market the opportunity for individual empowerment and engage clients for services;

● Must maintain client confidentiality;

● Responsible for Social Media postings on the Internet;

● Responsible in assisting groups/staff in program/event set-up;

● Perform all administrative tasks including: assembling pamphlets, condom packages, gift bags for clients, and creating/posting flyers;

● Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 


● High Graduate or GED equivalent;

● Knowledge of HIV/AIDS helpful. ( Note: selected candidate will be required to attend and obtain Phila. Dept. of Public Health HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Certification. May also attend additional training to become a certified HIV/AIDS tester);

● Experience with transgender individuals and knowledge of the community a must;

● Must maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor at all times, and be exceptionally respectful and trustworthy with clients, co-workers and the community is mandatory ;

● Must be comfortable approaching individuals to talk with about the prevention intervention;

● Must be a minimum of 21 years or older as some outreach may be done at bars;

● Bilingual/Spanish speaking is a plus;

● Must be able to work as a team member with all agency programs and co-workers;

● Good written and oral communication skills;

● Must be experienced with Microsoft Office products (Word/basic Excel) and the Internet;

● Car is not necessary (Note: mileage or public transportation costs will be reimbursed).
