Position Summary: 

The Manager of Special Project’s position is located within the COLOURS Organization. The COLOURS organization is  housed under the Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) and reports directly to the Executive Director. The incumbent will provide administrative support to the agency's senior leadership, plan and coordinate high-priority special projects, and develop timely, effective responses to constituent and stakeholder inquiries. The candidate for this position will plan  and coordinate special projects as directed, including the agency's COLOURS Ambassadors for Community Change (CAFCC) Project, Mentoring and Civic Engagement Initiative, a partnership with the Black Gay Mens Leadership Council (BGMLC). Other duties include, high emphasis on evaluation, advocacy, quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts.

Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

Below is an overview of various administrative duties:

  • Identify all necessary resources of special projects.
  • Works with agency leadership to plan and execute high-priority projects; including the management of the agency’s website, social media sites and will work with the Executive Director and board to author messages for community dissemination.
  • Assist program staff to track and evaluate progress of assigned projects.
  • Coordinates with program staff to develop and track timely, effective responses to constituent and stakeholder inquiries.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comply with entire timelines and ensure to accomplish all established objectives.
  • Analyze proposed projects, quantify impact, and prepare business case.
  • Manage and direct design, recruitment, implementation and evaluation of event’s new initiatives.
  • Coordinate  responsibility for taking raw ideas, hypotheses/ scenarios as well as shape them into comprehensive deployment plans to implement effectively.
  • Conduct research on different strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare and present projects along with overall strategy for every initiative.
  • Collaborate with various community leaders to prepare and execute programs as well as initiatives.
  • Identify and ensure to crossover barriers to successful completion of special project.
  • Supports cross functional teams on data management, operations planning and milestone tracking for strategic initiatives implementation.
  • Coordinate interactions and ensure to streamline stakeholders, cross functional teams and agency’s management team.
  • Manage process enhancements and varied special projects to execute solutions to attain key performance improvement or reduce risk.
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

Minimum and Additional Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree or certification of completion from Institutions of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. A minimum of 2 years of experience in public administration, human services, public health, social work, health administration, management, marketing, communications and/or public relations.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong project management skills; able to manage several high-priority projects simultaneously in a heavy volume environment while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of community resource
  • Knowledge of social structures and restorative change
