June 26, 2013

UAC Program Partner the Celebration of Moxie Women recently had their annual Next Generation of Leadership event recognizing a new group of leaders throughout Philadelphia. This year’s theme entitled “Empowering the Potential Girls, the Promise of Rising Stars, and the Power of Women” featured keynote speaker Claire Lomax, CEO of the Lomax Family Foundation.  The Next Generation of Leadership honors professional women who are driving change in their respective field. This year’s honorees consisted of a diverse group of women from a wide variety of fields including law, hospitality, sports marketing, and the non-profit sector.

The Celebration of Moxie Women, created by Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown, is designed to bring creative young women together to meet and build relationships. The Moxie Women Initiative has recognized over 115 females for their great achievements. The Moxie Women program consists of four components: The Celebration of Moxie Women Conference, Warmth in Winter, Next Generation of Leadership, and Senior Project. Each of their initiatives aims to empower young girls and women and prepare them to be the leaders of tomorrow.
