Getting Out for National Night Out

August 4, 2011

Town Watch groups are the eyes and ears of communities in assisting police with crime prevention in their neighborhoods. In Philadelphia, Anthony Murphy leads Town Watch Integrated Services (TWIS) (a UAC program partner), working tirelessly to assist residents in keeping their communities safe. There are over 720 certified Town Watch groups throughout the city with over 27,000 volunteers. All were trained for service by TWIS. On August 2, UAC President, Sharmain Matlock-Turner, joined Mr. Murphy, and Town Watch volunteers in Mt. Airy for a local National Night Out celebration. National Night Out, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), is part of a country-wide effort to promote neighborhood police-community partnerships in the fight against crime.
