Drexel University is offering a week-long summer program for middle school-aged girls from West Philadelphia area schools. Robot Springboard Technology Camp is designed to empower girls and expose them to career paths in the technology industry.

Girls will learn about robotics and computer programming and use the skills they’ve acquired to develop an idea for a solution to a social problem within their communities. On the final day of camp, students will present their technology solution to friends and family and celebrate with a congratulatory buffet dinner.

Students will attend daily luncheons which include presentations by professional women in the tech industry as well as college students studying computer science. There are two sessions offered for this camp. The first session will run from 9:00AM-12:00PM and the second will follow at 1:30PM-4:30PM.

There is no prior tech experience needed for this program. The program will be held on August 5th-9th. Although there is a fee of $40 to attend this program, there are scholarship opportunities available. Students interested in this program can fill out an application at http://robotspringboard.org/drexeltechcamp.html
