UAC and Brown's ShopRite to Give Away 1,000 Thanksgiving Meals to Needy Families

Who:  Featured guests include State Senator Anthony Williams, State Representative Ronald Waters, State Representative Kenyatta  Johnson, Sharmain Matlock-Turner, President of the Urban Affairs Coalition, Lisa Cliff, Vice President of Sales for Glory Foods, and Sandy Brown from Brown’s Family ShopRite.

What: Brown’s ShopRite, nonprofit UpLift Solutions and the Urban Affairs Coalition, along with State Representative Anthony Williams  and State Representative Ronald Waters,will partner for a tremendous Thanksgiving Basket distribution. In conjunction withtheir major sponsors Pepsi and Glory Foods, who supply many of the items in the baskets given out for the Thanksgiving Holiday, they will feed over 6,000 individuals citywide and give them a meal to remember.

Community partners from across the city will distribute the Thanksgiving baskets to families in need that they have identified. A team of 50 to 75 volunteers will assemble at the ShopRite of Oregon Avenue on Saturday, November 19th to prepare the baskets for distribution. Volunteers from all of the partners involved     will be on hand to help with the packing of the baskets. Media and journalists are welcome to help with the packing of the boxes.

The event on Monday, November, 21st will take place in the ShopRite of Oregon Avenue parking area where the baskets will be distributed to the local community groups.
