Summer WorkReady 2013
UAC’s Youth Division offers paid summer job opportunities to youth and young adults ages 14-21 that provide career exposure, resume and interview preparation, wardrobe-outfitting services, on-the-job mentoring, 21st century workforce skills training and a practical understanding of the working world. Applicants must reside in the City of Philadelphia.
The Coalition is one of the largest subcontracted providers of the Philadelphia Youth Network’s Summer WorkReady programs. We offer two program models noted below:
- Work Experience Program (Ages 14-21: no prior experience required, predominately social services sector placements)
- Summer Career Exploration Program/ Internships (Ages 16-21; prior job experience, resume, and interviews required; private sector placements)
Youth are strongly encouraged to come to UAC offices (1207 Chestnut Street) to complete their application to ensure it is completed correctly! Staff are on hand to walk them through the application process Monday - Friday 9:30AM - 4:00PM. Please call 215-851-1800 before coming to esnure you have ALL of the necessary documents. You will not be able to complete your application without certain documents (some applicants will need their most recent School Report Card).

There is no cost to you! Wages are graciously paid to youth interns by the citywide funder of Summer WorkReady, the Philadelphia Youth Network. We need both social services/nonprofit and for-profit/private sector employers. Call us now to support youth who deserve a chance or their first break. We are waiting to hear from you!

Save Youth Summer Jobs!!!!
Last summer UAC placed 535 young people through WorkReady Philadelphia, the city's youth employment and career preparation program managed by the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN), and an additional 165 young people in UAC internships.
This year without your help, UAC will have only 421 jobs and internships available for Philadelphia's teens. Do you remember your first summer job? Former UAC WorkReady student David A. Buckholtz does. David, a former UAC Summer WorkReady intern for 5 years, is an honors student at Pennsylvania State University and recently traveled to Washington, DC to participate in a summit with America's Promise Alliance. David, a Sun Life Rising Stars scholarship winner nominated by the Coalition, contributes his success to his Summer WorkReady experience at UAC.
