Summer WorkReady 2013
UAC’s Youth Division Summer WorkReady enrollment process has ended, however they are still actively recruiting interested youth ages 14-21 for paid summer job opportunities for the Department of Labor. This experience provides Philadelphia’s youth with career exposure, resume and interview preparation, as well as workforce skills training and a practical understanding of the working world. Applicants must reside in the City of Philadelphia and attend the following high schools:
- Bartram High School
- Edison High School
- Fels High School
- Frankford High School
- Germantown High School
- Lincoln High School
- Overbrook High School
- University City High School
- West Philadelphia High School
High schools listed in bold are schools specifically managed by UAC. Students attending those high schools can come to UAC’s office (1207 Chestnut Street) and enroll for summer employment. Students not attending high schools managed by UAC can still come to UAC’s office and be assisted by the Philadelphia Youth Network. Youth are strongly encouraged to come to UAC’s office to complete their application and ensure its accuracy. Staff are on hand to walk them through the application process Monday-Friday 9:30-4:00PM. Please call 215-851-1800 prior to arrival to ensure that you have ALL the necessary documents.
Please note that the application process has two main components:
- Completion of an online application at one of UAC’s on-site computer labs with the assistance of our trained staff.
- Printing out the signature page from the online application, and assembling and attaching other required documents to it. The Coalition’s staff will work with applicants to obtain working papers during the application process.

Attention all Employers!
If you are tired of saying “NO” to youth who deserve a “YES,” then stop right now! Commit to supporting the next generation of workforce talent by becoming a worksite for Philadelphia youth this summer.
There is no cost to you! Wages are graciously paid to youth interns by the citywide funder of Summer WorkReady, the Philadelphia Youth Network. We need both social services/nonprofit and for-profit/private sector employers.
Eligible employers must have an office and will be subjected to a background check and examination.
Call us now to support youth who deserve a chance! Last year, UAC placed 535 young people through WorkReady Philadelphia, help us exceed this number and keep Philadelphia’s teens employed!

Save Youth Summer Jobs!!!!
Last summer UAC placed 535 young people through WorkReady Philadelphia, the city's youth employment and career preparation program managed by the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN), and an additional 165 young people in UAC internships.
This year without your help, UAC will have only 421 jobs and internships available for Philadelphia's teens. Do you remember your first summer job? Former UAC WorkReady student David A. Buckholtz does. David, a former UAC Summer WorkReady intern for 5 years, is an honors student at Pennsylvania State University and recently traveled to Washington, DC to participate in a summit with America's Promise Alliance. David, a Sun Life Rising Stars scholarship winner nominated by the Coalition, contributes his success to his Summer WorkReady experience at UAC.
